In the face of renewable energies, a whole series of combined circumstances between the economy, population movements, climate change and technology , have launched a widespread transformation of the energy system overall.
Business, work or profitability opportunities economy are up to date creating a business network that makes ten years was unthinkable and furthermore, sustained and accepted socially based on one of the most recognized labels… «sustainability« .
While on a global scale millions are invested in install renewables for their tangible benefits, and we can check in the following graph of the report Ren21 «Renewables 2015 – GLOBAL STATUS REPORT» published last December.

World investment in energy and renewable fuels in developed countries and in development between 2004-2014 have a significant growth. Knowing that Spain was located – 2014 – among the seven leading countries in power generation capacity renewable energy in the world, standing out in the energy sector wind:
The result is, that actually we have “cluelessly” , year 2012, 2013, 2014, in investments in the renewable energy sector. We continue to have the same installed capacity . AND We can check it in the following graph of IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency):
Possibly up to now, none of our readers will surprise the data. We already knew that we are good renewable energy producers and that, for different causes; crisis, self-consumption laws and possibly other more "hidden" factors, in recent years we have not invested more. But… What if not being able to generate more renewable energy, given the need of consumption, we pull the bandwagon of fossils?
This is where the latest report from Red comes into play Eléctrica Española published the data on how we have covered our demand for electricity in Spain in 2015. Where two facts stand out strongly before 2015: Unfortunately, we have consumed less renewables and much more coal and gas compared to 2014.
Although the report tells us... "The renewable energies maintain a prominent role in electricity generation as a whole but decreased about five points from the previous year conditioned by the variability of productions hydroelectric and wind energy, which this year have registered decreases in 28.2% and 5.3% respectively. However, it should be noted that wind power has been the technology with the greatest contribution to the total production of peninsular electricity in the months of February and May»
Due to external factors, the weather, we have not been able to produce more energy from renewables , the dilemma comes that we have had to throw away the consumption of fossil energy, which causes an increase in emissions of CO2 .
By having more CO2 emissions in the year 2015, we will have to pay more in royalties carbon…. How much? An exact figure and with data above the table, we can not credit it but a estimate:
The value of carbon emissions can be consulted at this news from the newspaper El Economista, and every year it rises more.
Regardless of whether we are going to pay more or less. The real problematic of the matter, in our opinion, is that the millions of excess that we can pay for the increase in CO2 emissions associated with the electricity generation (Year 2015), will be wasted, not have a return, being that we had the possibility in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 to increase power generation renewable.
So, if by 2015 we already had a disgust with the energy supply in terms of "clean" energies, we predict a 2016 in the same line . Whether or not because of the radical changes of climate that we are suffering or for the simple fact that the Society consumes more and more electricity. Although this year favors a coherent energy policy, the possible results, a real production of energy, would be long term.
